Statement

I have been involved in ceramics since 1985. After studying on an Art Foundation Course at Harrow College of Higher Education, I took a ceramic degree at Camberwell College of Arts, where I graduated with first class honours in 1991. There, I concentrated on making sculptural ceramics and continued to do so in my own studio.

In 1997, I embarked on the MA course in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art. My aim was to explore design orientated Ceramics and Ceramic Wall Pieces. My show at the Royal College was a combination of Ceramic Wall Pieces and Ceramic Lighting. The Chrysanthemum Lights won the P&O Oriana Prize for Applied Arts.

After leaving the Royal College in 1999, I established a studio in Hammersmith. I have concentrated on making Ceramic Wall Pieces that are inspired by nature, particularly the atmospheric moods of landscapes. I am fascinated by the subtleties and variety of effects that can be achieved with glazes. I have continued testing and developing glazes to find new and exciting possibilities. I explore possibilities within surface treatment of simple shapes and the interaction between the two. I frequently combine several pieces to form a single work. Clients can either buy from stock or commission work. Prices range from £55 - £2600.

In 2001, I won the LivingEtc Bright New Things Award.
